Yoga day 2019

Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition, which has been practised for thousands of years. It is a holistic solution for physical as well as mental wellness. It professes a complete system of development. Shanti Asiatic School, attempts to pass on this knowledge to our children. SAS celebrated International Yoga Day on June 21, 2019 to raise awareness about the benefits of Yoga in daily life. Yoga cultivates the ways of maintaining a balanced attitude in day to day life and endows skill in the performance of one’s actions. The students of Class V and VI participated enthusiastically to celebrate International Yoga Day. They presented practical knowledge of different chakras in our body and demonstrated different asana to activate these chakras. Senior students performed Yoga dance consisting of difficult pyramids, vinyasa and advance asanas like Purna Shalabhasana, Purna Dhanurasana and Sirshasana. There was a mass participation where students did meditation, pranayama and simple asanas that they can practise in their daily life.
The celebration was not limited to a single day, but instead was extended to an entire week! Throughout the week students presented their assemblies associated to Yoga and its significance.
The students of Classes III & IV presented a skit related to stress which results in health issue like back pain. They demonstrated various asana like Bhujangasana, Thanurasana, Pavanmuktasana, Parvatasana, Bitilasana, Marjariasana and Ustrasana that can cure it. The students explained every aspect of yoga as propounded by Maharshi Patanjali who is considered as the ‘Father of Yoga’. Through this presentation a message was conveyed that yoga is not just about exercise but also to discover the sense of oneness with yourself. An attempt to inculcate the simple principles of yoga amongst young students of Class I was made by weaving asanas with Rhymes which made Yoga a fun activity for them. The students of Class II were taught 4 simple Bhavas given by Yogendraji, the founder of famous Yoga institute to make them live a life filled with discipline and happiness.
These celebrations were just a beginning to an entire year of Yoga augmentation that will facilitate students be to be physically, mentally and emotionally fit.
