Shanti Asiatic School Students Visit the India Design Confluence
Students of SAS visited IDC – 2018, which was held at the campus of Unitedworld Institute of Design (UID), Ahmedabad from November 23 to 25, 2018.
The exhibition which was an amalgamation of art, design, architecture and innovation gave a platform to aspiring students to learn more in these fields. It had students from all over the country along with national and international experts, academicians, artisans, craftsmen and designers under one roof.
Many sectors in design namely Animation, Interior designing, Dress designing, Architecture, Automobile design, Jewellary designing, Life style and Accessory designing, Fine Arts, etc were covered in the exhibition.
Live demonstrations in The Crafts Village were of great interest to the students. They got a chance to interact with artisans, students from art and design colleges from India and got to understand design, art, visual communication and future trend. They even tried their hands at pottery and cutting the design in leather sheets with the help of craftsman’s tools. Live demonstration of weaving of Patola sari mesmerised the children as it was the first experience for them to see a sari woven on handlooms.
The students were amazed to see the different installations put up in the campus which were created from the recycled and used products. The design pavilions displayed work of students from CEPT, National Institute of Design (NID), National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), MICA and the Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU) among others. They were inspired by the creativity, hard work and team effort put together in these installations and gathered information about the various institutes and courses that can be taken up by them in future. SAS Art Teachers who had visited the exhibition along with the students too got a chance to meet industry experts and attend few sessions and panel discussions.
The students came back with once in a lifetime experience and were motivated with fresh inspiration and diverse opinions from the stalwarts of design.
