With an objective to enrich education by exposing students to the rich cultural traditions of India, Shanti Asiatic School organised classical vocal music performance by renowned classical music artist Dr. Meeta Pandit in coordination with SPIC MACAY on September 18, 2018. The programme was attended by the students and teachers of class VI to VIII. Dr. Meeta Pandit was accompanied by Nand Kishore Tante on Tabla and Shishir Pandit on Harmonium. A gifted voice that can traverse with ease in chosen octave delighted the audience with her classy vocal performance. Acknowledged as the scion of the Gwalior Gharana of Hindustani Classical Music, Dr. Meeta Pandit is the grand-daughter and disciple of Padma Bhushan Pt Krishna Rao Shankar. Her good sense for ragas and her artistic ability in its articulation propelled the feel of the composition straight into audience’s heart. The performance had several sections of different forms of ragas and it ended with interaction between students and artist. On the whole, the entire musical performance was an aural treat for the span of one hour for all the students and teachers.
