Contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel “Every citizen of India must remember that he is an Indian and he has every right in this country but with certain duties”
The Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day is celebrated on 31st October on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the iconic personality Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel . The day gives tribute to the legendary personality who made huge contribution to the country and initiated making India a peace loving country. In the year 2014 Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi announced this day to be celebrated as Rahstriya Ekta Diwas.
Sardar Vallabhbahi Patel played an important role in integrating Indian princely states. He was the first Deputy Prime Minister of India. His commitment to national integration in the newly independent country earned him the title of “ Iron Man of India”. He was one of the primary people involved in drafting the Indian Constitution . He also headed the Advisory committee set up by the constituent assembly on 24th January 1947.He introduced the right to non- discrimination of citizens.

I solemnly pledge that I dedicate myself to preserve the unity, integrity and security of the nation and also strive hard to spread this message among my fellow countrymen. I take this pledge in the spirit of unification of my country. I also solemnly resolve to make my own contribution to ensure internal security of my country.
